The RV!

(The RV at a golf outing)

Here is our first RV!  It's a 1991 Fleetwood Tioga Montara Special Edition.  We purchased it during the winter of 2017 and started remodeling the inside spring of 2018.  We installed new flooring, a ceramic toilet, new shower walls and head, got the cushions in the over-cab bunk recovered, added a new memory foam mattress, painted and patched, and added some Smart Tiles to the kitchen and bathroom.

As one of our ventures, we are offering it for rent so that others can enjoy it and explore Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Island Park Idaho, the Sawtooth, Targhee and other National and State Parks in our area.  (Currently not offering the RV for rent)

Grand Teton & Yellowstone Park Adventure

Grand Teton & Yellowstone Park Adventure

Day One – Idaho Falls to Jackson Hole WY through Swan Valley Idaho. Don't miss out on a world famous square ice cream cone at the Rainey Creek Country Store! Camp at Gros Ventre Campground or other Grand Teton Park Camping Link All sites are "first come" basis. There are private campgrounds in Jackson Hole but they are pricey... Here is a link to some.

Day Two – Explore Jackson Wyoming and Grand Teton Park (Jenny Lake, Jackson Lake etc.) Enter Yellowstone Park and have reservations at Grant Village Campground (Opens June 8, 2018) so that you can take your time getting there.  (If you are earlier in the year get a reservation at Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch)

Days Three and Four – Spend the day at Old Faithful and the other geysers in the area. Also explore the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone area. Get reservations and stay both nights at Canyon Campground

Day Five – Travel to Tower Fall and Mammoth Hot Springs. This day you will need to find a campsite “first come” basis. Try Tower Fall or Mammoth. If you want to get a reservation, try Yellowstone RV Park in Gardiner WY

Day Six – Enjoy the drive to Norris Geyser Basin and get reservations to camp the night at Madison Campground. You could go out to West Yellowstone and stay in a private campground too. The Playmill Theater is fantastic entertainment (closes Labor Day weekend)!

Day Seven – Travel from Madison to West Yellowstone MT. Explore Island Park ID including Mesa Falls along the way. Return to Idaho Falls.

Details about our RV:

As one of our ventures, we're offering our motorhome for rent so that others can enjoy it and explore Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Island Park Idaho, the Sawtooth, Targhee and other National and State Parks in our area. Check it out on RVnGoOutdoorsy or Good Sam Rental!

The daily mileage allowed for free with your rental is an average for the entire rental period. On a 7 day trip you would have 1050 miles for free. This trip, outlined above, would be a total of only 449 miles. You would still have 601 free miles to go for exploring beyond the main route.

Plan on 8 miles per gallon for fuel usage, or about 288 miles on a tank (holds 36 gallons). With the mountain passes and increase in altitude, plan on refueling in Jackson WY. You may need to fuel once in the Park and then at West Yellowstone. Finally top if off in Idaho Falls to end your journey. Your mileage coming back will be better than going out since it’s down hill most of the way.

Depending on the weather, the RV has a solar panel to help charge the 12 volt system. It also charges while you are driving from the engine. All of the lights are LED so the power draw is very low. The RV has a generator that runs off the gasoline tank (that you use for the engine). This allows you to plan some "boondocking" without hookups for as long as you would like.

The RV is fitted with a complete bathroom including a shower. You may also want to take advantage of the restroom and shower facilities at the campgrounds in Yellowstone Park as a way of saving on your water supply and reducing the need to dump the waste storage tanks.
