Dometic at RVX

On day one of the RVX: RV Experience trade only show in Salt Lake City, Dometic invited everyone with a media pass to a wonderful brunch (featuring shrimp cocktails and more!).  They are a global market leader in branded solutions for mobile living in the areas of Food & Beverage, Climate, Power & Control, Hygiene & Sanitation and Safety & Security.

Here is a link to our video as we walked through their display

Some of the standout items were their new slide out kitchen that is currently being offered in Australia only, but will be on the market in the USA soon.  The display was full of a sampling of their extensive line

Each of the vendors at the RVX were challenged to create a "what will the future bring" display.  Dometic had touchscreens that you would select a potential new item, review it and then grade it for future production.

At the end of our video, we reviewed the concept of re-introducing a incinerator toilet, that others had seen in use before in cabins and vehicles.  Dometic has a new spin on this concept that could make boondocking easier and help extend your off grid experiences.

Rudy Likes It

While attending the RVX: RV Experience trade only event in Salt Lake City, Rudy Ruettiger (made famous from his experiences with the University of Notre Dame Football team that was captured in the movie "Rudy") was one of the speakers.  I loved the movie and wanted to hear him speak.
Rudy, Rudy, Rudy!
While we waited he approached me and wanted to look at my camera, so I pressed record.

I'll have the video of his talk up ASAP, but what a guy!

Campground of the Future

I had the opportunity to experience Kampgrounds of America’s (KOA) “The Campground of the Future,” and speak with their first female CEO, Toby O’Rourke at the RVX: The RV Experience Trade Only Event in Salt Lake City .  Here's a link to the interview:

Just named in the CEO role on March 5th, O’Rourke has played a key role in the brand’s incredible growth since she came on board in 2011. In fact, KOA’s occupancy and registration revenues have trended upward across the board for the eighth year in a row, while last year’s NACR data showed 6 million new camper households in America added since 2014.

The Campground of the Future concept is a series of interactive animated illustrations that immerse viewers into a campground in the near 2030. This includes expanded technology offerings, sustainably constructed sites and facilitated, and campgrounds engulfed within nature in desert, ocean, mountain, urban and forest settings. Forecasting is based on KOA’s 55+ years in leading the outdoor hospitality industry, expertise in campground innovation and design, and understanding of camper preferences and trends through the North American Camping Report (NACR), the company’s annual research initiative, which was conceptualized under O’Rourkey’s leadership.
